F-150 Raptor and Raptor R
The 2025 F-150 Raptor comes equipped to tackle extreme terrain straight from the dealership, with everything you’ll need to go way beyond the beaten path. Ford has improved the base Raptor with some amenities that were previously found only on the Raptor R. For example, a power tailgate with a workstation, a steering wheel with position memory, a center-console work surface, and a capless fuel filler are now standard.
Standing 12 inches off the ground (that’s 3.8 more inches of ground clearance than a typical F-150, and 2.5 inches more than the Tremor), the Raptor rides high on a sport-tuned suspension and live-valve FOX Racing Shox with continuously variable damping. Front end, engine, fuel tank, and transfer case skid plates protect the undercarriage from the elements, and standard BFGoodrich all-terrain tires grip whatever dirt, rock, or sand comes their way. The Raptor R goes further with dual-valve shocks, a modular front bumper, and bead-lock-capable wheels.
While it’s tough on the outside, the Raptor’s SuperCrew cab offers comfortable respite from the wilderness with amenities like heated and ventilated front seats, wireless smartphone charging, and a Bang & Olufsen Unleashed Sound System to make the most of a day on the trail. The Raptor trims are the toughest of the F-150s, with specialized off-road components and performance that set them apart from the rest of the lineup. Powertrains and Performance
The 2025 F-150 Raptor is available as is or enhanced with the extensive additions found in the Raptor R package. The base powertrain pairs a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 EcoBoost engine producing 450 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. of torque with a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission with progressive range select and paddle shifters. The Raptor R swaps the V6 for a 5.2-liter V8, which makes 720 horsepower and 640 lb.-ft. of torque. The standard build returns an EPA-estimated 14 mpg city and 18 mpg highway, while the Raptor R drops to 10 city/15 highway mpg. All Raptors are made with a four-wheel drivetrain (4WD), a Hi-Lock transfer case, a SuperCrew cab, and a 5.5-foot bed.
The Raptor rides on independent double-wishbone front suspension with coil-over springs and cast aluminum lower control arms, as well as a 5-link rear suspension with two-stage variable-rate leaf springs and a Panhard rod – both equipped with high-output, gas-pressurized, electronically controlled, continuously variable damping FOX Racing Shox with a 3.1-inch damper. The Raptor R upgrades to dual-valve FOX Racing Shox. Ford’s Trail Control with Trail 1-Pedal Drive is standard, which allows the gas pedal to control both acceleration and braking, as is auto hold braking. Every Raptor comes with an electronic-locking rear differential, and its exclusive drive mode selector offers Normal, Sport, Tow/Haul, Slippery, Off-Road, Baja, and Rock Crawl settings for enhanced control on various terrain types.
Standard Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, Pro Trailer Backup Assist, and trailer reverse guidance are standard features on both versions. The Raptor can tow up to 8,200 pounds, while the Raptor R takes that up to 8,700 pounds. Both are capable of carrying as much as 1,410 pounds of payload.
