2025 Ford
Super Duty
The 2025 Ford Super Duty family leads the heavy-duty truck realm in a number of significant capability
categories, including output for both diesel and gas-burning V8 output. With five trims offered across
three payload capacity ranges – all with a fully-boxed high-strength steel frame with up to 10
crossmembers – the Super Duty is utilitarian, luxurious, and everything in between. For the 2025 model
year, the former high-end Limited trim has been discontinued, making the Platinum the top trim. Buyers
can add the Platinum Plus Package to it for extra amenities such as Venetian leather and a two-panel
moonroof. Ford’s heavy-duty workhorse is up for any job, with gear in tow—boasting a maximum towing
capacity of 40,000 pounds, and a class-best 8,000-pound maximum payload capacity.
The Super
Duty’s engine lineup is extensive, with a 6.8-liter gas V8, a 7.3-liter gas V8 with best-in-class output
for gas full-sized pickups, a 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel, and a 6.7-liter high-output Power
Stroke V8 turbo-diesel engine that cranks out a segment-best (full-sized diesel trucks) 500 horsepower
and 1,200 lb.-ft. of torque. With an available Gooseneck Hitch Prep Package, FX4 Off-Road Package,
Snowplow Prep Package, and Camper Package, the Super Duty series is highly customizable, offering
versatility for specific jobs and needs.
Trims, Powertrains, and Payload Capacities
The 2025 Super Duty is offered in five trims – XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum – and three
payload capacities: F-250, F-350, and F-450. The standard F-250 and F-350 powertrain pairs a 6.8-liter
gas V8 engine, delivering 405 horsepower and 445 lb.-ft. of torque, with a TorqShift-G 10-speed
automatic transmission in the XL, XLT, and Lariat, all of which feature Normal, Eco, Slippery Road, and
Tow/Haul drive modes. The F-250 and F-350 King Ranch and Platinum move up to the class-leading (for
full-sized gas-burning truck output) 7.3-liter gas V8 (available on lower trims), producing 430
horsepower and 485 lb.-ft. of torque, coupled with a TorqShift 10-speed SelectShift automatic
transmission (available on the lower trims). All F-450 trims come outfitted with a 6.7-liter Power
Stroke V8 turbo-diesel engine (available on the F-250 and F-350), generating 475 horsepower and 1,050
lb.-ft. of torque. All XLs have a rear-wheel drivetrain (RWD), while the higher trims come exclusively
in 4-wheel-drive (available on the XL). A 6.7-liter high-output (class-leading) Power Stroke V8
turbo-diesel (output: 500 horsepower and 1,200 lb.-ft. of torque) is available on all Super Duty
trucks.
All trims and payload capacities are available with a crew cab. The F-250 and F-350 XL
and XLT are available in regular and SuperCab, while the F-450 XL and XLT drop the SuperCab option. All
regular and SuperCab models have a long (8-foot) bed, while F-250 and F-350 crew cabs are available with
a long or short (6.75-foot) bed configuration. F-450s come exclusively with the long bed regardless of
trim or cab option. Fuel tanks range from 29 gallons (regular and crew cab with the short bed) to 34
gallons (SuperCab long bed and crew cab short bed) and 48 gallons (crew cab long bed). Dual rear wheels
are standard on all F-450s and are available on the F-350 with the long bed.
The F-250 has a
maximum gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 31,000 lb. with the 6.7-liter high-output Power Stroke V8
turbo-diesel and high-capacity axle upgrade package. The F-350 maxes out with a 35,200-lb. GCWR with the
6.7-liter high-output Power Stroke V8 turbo-diesel with the single-rear wheel, and matches the F-450’s
48,000-pound GCWR with dual rear wheels (both must be outfitted with the Heavy-Duty Payload Package and
40K Gooseneck Tow Package). The F-350’s 8,000-lb. payload leads the full-sized pickup class with the XL
trim, regular cab configuration, dual rear wheels, and the Gas Heavy-Duty Payload Package. The F-450
reaches a maximum tow rating of 40,000 lb. – the highest of any Super Duty – when it’s equipped with the
6.7-liter high-output Power Stroke V8 turbo-diesel and the available High-Capacity Gooseneck Tow
Package. All F-450 trims get a drive mode selector with Normal, Eco, Tow/Haul, and Slippery settings.
