Trims and Powertrains

The 2025 Ford Ranger lineup consists of four trims: XL, XLT, Lariat, and the off-road-focused Raptor. Most of them are powered by a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine making 270 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. of torque. A 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 making 315 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque is available on the XLT and Lariat. The range-topping Raptor comes exclusively with a high-performance 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 that generates 405 horsepower and 430 lb.-ft. of torque. All engines are paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) is standard on the XL, XLT, and Lariat, while a part-time four-wheel-drive system (4WD) is optional on those trims with the base engine and included in conjunction with the 2.7-liter V6. The Raptor comes standard with a more advanced 4WD system featuring an electronic two-speed transfer case.

All 2025 Rangers come in a SuperCrew cab configuration, providing four full-sized doors and ample room for up to five passengers. Every Ranger also has a 5-foot cargo bed. When it’s been properly equipped, the first three trims can tow up to 7,500 pounds; the Raptor has a maximum towing capacity of 5,510 pounds. The maximum payload rating for the Ranger is 1,805 pounds with RWD and 1,711 pounds with 4WD.

EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings are 21 mpg in the city and 25 mpg for the 2.3-liter and RWD combination, while 4WD yields 20 mpg around town and 24 mpg on the open road. The power upgrade of the 2.7-liter V6 changes the fuel economy to 19 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. The Raptor is rated for 16 city/18 highway.
