The trim levels for the 2025 Expedition are called Active, Platinum, Tremor, and King Ranch. They all have a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine mated to a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission, but the output differs. In the Active, Platinum, and King Ranch, the engine generates 400 horsepower and 480 lb.-ft. of torque. The Tremor’s higher-output version of the EcoBoost V6 boosts performance to 440 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. of torque.
Four-wheel drive (4WD) is standard on every grade except for the Active (which can add it as an option). Versions with 4WD come with the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package with Auto Hitch. For heavier hauls, the Expedition can handle a maximum towing capacity of 7,000 pounds without a load-leveling bar, but that limit increases to 9,600 pounds with the use of a weight distribution hitch.
As previously mentioned, the Tremor is uniquely equipped for off-road driving with an electronic locking rear differential, high-flow exhaust system, heavy-duty 28MM engine radiator, modified Raptor skid plates (front and transmission underbody), fuel tank underbody protection, and a higher ride suspension with premium passive shocks. Off-road performance is optimized by custom drive modes, too, including Rock Crawl, Trail Control, Trail Turn Assist, and Trail One-Pedal Drive, allowing you to effortlessly navigate challenging terrain.
The Active has cloth upholstery, a 40/20/40-split second-row bench with manually reclining seats, a 60/40 PowerFold third row, a 10-way power driver seat with memory settings, an 8-way power passenger seat, a 13.2-inch center stack display, tri-zone automatic temperature control with second- and third-row auxiliary climate controls, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, four USB ports (front), four 12-volt power outlets, 15 beverage holders, a cargo tailgate manager, front and rear scuff plates, and an illuminated entry system with theater dimming. Its exterior has 18-inch dark-painted aluminum wheels, LED reflector headlights with signature lighting, configurable daytime running lights, LED taillights, a power tailgate, heated and power-adjustable side mirrors, platform running boards, roof-rack side rails, a Class IV trailer hitch receiver, remote keyless entry, and remote start.
The Platinum moves up to leather upholstery, multi-contour heated and ventilated front seats with Active Motion Massage, heated power-fold/slide captain’s chairs in the second row, 40/20/40 PowerFold Seats with power reclining and folding head in the third row, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, a Flex Powered Console, power-adjustable foot pedals with memory settings, a 12.4-inch digital LCD instrumentation display, ambient cabin lighting, a wireless charging pad, a universal garage door opener, two third-row USB ports, two USB ports in the cargo area, and two 110v/400w AC power outlets (one console/one cargo area). Its exterior amenities consist of a Panoramic Vista Roof, rain-sensing windshield wipers, 20-inch Ebony Black aluminum wheels, power running boards, zone lighting, Intelligent Access, and smartphone-based remote start. The side mirrors also add power-folding and auto-fold functionality, integrated turn signals, memory settings, ground illumination, and driver’s side auto-dimming.
The debuting Tremor can be configured for seven or eight passengers, depending on whether the second row has the captain’s chairs or bench seat. Its standard equipment includes front tow hooks, LED fog lights, a trim-specific off-road grille with signature lighting, Tremor logos on the front seats, floor liners (first and second rows), and 33-inch all-terrain tires on 18-inch dark carbonized, gray-painted alloy wheels. The upscale King Ranch sets itself apart with an Ebony/Mesa interior, special floor mats in the first and second rows, 22-inch Sinister Bronze diamond-cut machined aluminum wheels with an exclusive King Ranch center cap, an exclusive grille with Sinister Bronze-painted bars, bright stainless-steel roof-rack side rails, front door scuff plates with brushed aluminum inserts and the King Ranch logo, and premium Del Rio Leather upholstery across the seats, steering wheel, doors, and console.
Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 is a suite of driver-assistive technologies found on all 2025 Expeditions. The standard package contains a 360-degree monitor, front and rear parking sensors, reverse brake assist, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control (lane centering/predictive speed assist/stop and go), evasive steer assist, a blind spot information system with cross-traffic alert and trailer coverage, blind spot assist, a lane keeping system (lane-keeping alert/lane-keeping assist/driver alert/road edge protection), intersection assist, pre-collision assist (dynamic brake support/forward collision warning/pedestrian detection), pro trailer hitch assist, pro trailer backup assist, and auto high beams. All but the base trim add driver state detection and Intersection Assist 2.2 via Ford Co-Pilot360 Active 2.0 and become eligible for BlueCruise Hands-Free Highway Driving (the Platinum and Tremor get a 90-day trial while the King Ranch comes with a one-year subscription).
The focus of the ‘25 Expedition’s dashboard is the Ford Digital Experience hub, which incorporates a customizable 24-inch panoramic digital display with pinch-to-zoom capability. All trims have the Alexa Built-in and Google Assistant voice recognition systems, wireless Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM Radio with 360L, and year-long subscription to the Ford Connectivity Package, complete with FordPass Connect, a Wi-Fi hotspot, audio and video streaming, Google Maps, video conferencing, entertainment/gaming, and more. The Active is outfitted with a good six-speaker sound system, while the Platinum and Tremor are graced with a Bang & Olufsen unit with 10 speakers and a subwoofer. King Ranch passengers will enjoy the ultimate listening experience, thanks to a B&O Unleashed Sound System with 22 speakers and a subwoofer.
