Heightened Practicality

The 2025 Expedition will introduce new features designed to make it more practical than its predecessor. Chief among these is the innovative Split Gate, a game-changer that combines the convenience of a traditional SUV liftgate with the functionality of a pickup truck tailgate. The top three-quarters operate as a liftgate, while the lower quarter folds down like a tailgate, supporting up to 500 pounds. Add the optional Cargo Tailgate Manager, and the tailgate transforms into a handy serving table or seatback that will transform camping trips and game-day tailgating. Plus, the ’25 Expedition will offer the 360-degree Zone Lighting system to illuminate its surroundings.

Cargo access is also improved for passengers in the first and second rows. The available Flex Powered Console slides back nearly 8 inches at the push of a button, opening up a secure storage space for valuables while also giving second-row passengers easier access to cup holders and audio/climate controls. The Third Row Flexible Seating system comes with a middle bench seat that folds independently, creating a long center aisle stretching from the Split Gate to the front console for even more versatility.

Sophisticated Technology

Inside, the ’25 Expedition will boast next-generation technology designed to keep drivers connected and focused on the road ahead. At the heart of the dashboard is the Ford Digital Experience hub, which incorporates a customizable 24-inch panoramic digital display. In a departure from the typical SUV setup, Ford positions the instrumentation portion of the display near the base of the windshield, helping to keep the driver’s focus on the road.

The infotainment system now includes dual voice recognition systems (Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa), while the optional Ford Connectivity Package will offer an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot, Google Play apps, and Google Maps integration. Rear passengers won’t be left out either, thanks to the new Digital Device Holder, which secures tablets or smartphones to the back of front-row headrests for convenient hands-free use.

Advanced Safety Features

Just like the outgoing Expedition, the 2025 model will get the Ford Co-Pilot360 driver-assist technology suite, bundling technologies that include forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist. The biggest safety update for 2025, though, is the expanded availability of BlueCruise, Ford’s cutting-edge hands-free driving system. The upgraded BlueCruise system now incorporates lane change assist, which lets drivers switch lanes using only the turn signal, and in-lane repositioning, which adjusts the vehicle’s position to provide more space apart from nearby vehicles.

Tremor: Unmatched Off-Road Capability

For 2025, the Expedition’s off-road prowess is augmented with the debut of the Tremor trim level. Balancing premium comforts with rugged upgrades, the Tremor is built for hardcore adventure, providing a best-in-class 10.6 inches of ground clearance, Intelligent 4WD, 33-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires, and a powerful 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 high-output engine making 440 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. of torque. Some of the other Tremor-specific features include a retuned suspension, Raptor-inspired running boards, integrated off-road auxiliary lighting, and comprehensive underbody protection. Off-road performance is enhanced by specialized drive modes, too, including Rock Crawl, Trail Control, Trail Turn Assist, and Trail One-Pedal Drive, allowing you to effortlessly navigate daunting terrain.

Effortless Towing and Trailering

Ford has made sure that towing will be easier than ever with the 2025 Expedition. For starters, Pro Trailer Hitch Assist allows the rear camera and corner radar systems to work simultaneously to automatically align the hitch with the trailer coupler. Pro Trailer Backup Assist takes the stress out of reversing, allowing drivers to guide the trailer using a rotary knob that controls the steering wheel. For heavier hauls, the Expedition can handle a maximum towing capacity of 7,000 pounds without a load-leveling bar; but that limit increases to 9,600 pounds with the use of a weight distribution hitch.
