The 2024 F-150 continues its current generation with a familiar array of trims: the XL, STX, XLT, Tremor, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum. (Please see our separate pages for the Raptor, Raptor R, and all-electric F-150 Lightning). The cab configurations also stay the same, with the two-door regular cab solely for the base XL, and the Super Cab (two standard front doors and two rear access doors) available for the XL, STX, and XLT. The Super Crew (four standard doors) is available with all trims. There are three cargo bed lengths (5.5 feet, 6.5 feet, or 8.0 feet); their availability varies by the trim and cab configuration.
Most would agree that the greatest change for the 2024 Ford F-150 occurs in the engine bay. The 3.3-liter V6 has been dropped, making the once-optional twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 the base powerplant for the XL, STX, and XLT. This engine makes 325 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque – a considerable jump from the 290 hp and 265 lb.-ft. of torque of the previous standard engine.
The stout 5.0-liter V8, which produces 400 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque, is available on the XL, STX, and XLT and comes standard on the Tremor and Lariat. A twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 making 400 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. of torque is optional on the XL, Tremor, and Lariat and is included on the King Ranch and Platinum. A hybrid version of the 3.5-liter V6 that makes 430 horsepower and 570 lb.-ft. of torque is available for the XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum.
Rear-wheel drive is standard with the XL, STX, and XLT, while four-wheel drive is optional and included with the other trims. A ten-speed automatic transmission manages all of the drivetrains. The maximum capacities for the 2024 F-150 are 13,500 pounds for towing and 2,455 pounds for payload (the exact limits vary by trim and configuration).
The EPA-estimated fuel economy for six-cylinder F-150s ranges from 16 to 22 mpg in the city and 23 to 25 mpg on the highway, depending on the powertrain, trim, and configuration. With a V8 under the hood, these figures change to 16 mpg around town and 24 mpg on the open road.
The work-oriented XL is focused on the essentials with a no-nonsense equipment list that includes fabric upholstery, a 12-inch digital instrument display, a 40/20/40-split folding front seat (for three passengers) with manual controls, vinyl floor covering, LED headlights, heated power side mirrors, a manual tilt-and-telescopic steering column, a Class IV trailer hitch, and 17-inch steel wheels. The sporty SXT adds front bucket seats with a center console, LED fog lights with cornering lamps, sport cloth upholstery, carpeting, rear privacy glass, a rear-window defroster, body-color bumper accents, and 20-inch machined-aluminum wheels. The standard equipment for XLT includes a 40/20/40-split folding front seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, chrome-finished running boards, rear under-seat storage, Pro Trailer backup/hitch assist, a wrapped steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and 18-inch wheels with a chrome-like finish.
An off-road-tuned suspension, a locking rear differential, and multi-terrain driving modes give the Tremor extra capabilities when travel goes beyond the pavement. This rugged F-150 trim also gets remote start, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, heated bucket seats with a center console, a unique grille and running boards, power-adjustable pedals, Pro Power Onboard (2 kW), a power-slide rear window, remote tailgate release, skid plates, a keyless-entry keypad, front tow hooks, and 18-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tires. While the Lariat skips the off-road equipment of the Tremor, it gets many of the same comfort and convenience features along with leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated wrapped steering wheel, a ten-way power driver’s seat, a position memory system for the driver, a power tilt-and-telescopic steering column, heated power side mirrors with power-fold, adaptive LED projector-style headlights, an onboard 400-watt outlet, chrome-finished running boards, rain-sensing windshield wipers, ambient cabin lighting, and 18-inch wheels with a chrome-like finish and all-terrain tires.
The King Ranch takes the F-150 further up the luxury ladder. It gets a twin-panel moonroof, multi-contour heated and ventilated front bucket seats with massage mode, King Ranch-themed leather upholstery, a continuously damping suspension, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated second-row seats, a head-up display, Pro Power Onboard (2 kW), partitioned lockable fold-flat storage, an integrated trailer brake controller, King Ranch-themed exterior accents, and 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires. As the ultimate F-150, the Platinum is equipped like the King Ranch but trades in the Western-themed motif for more subtle luxury.
All 2024 F-150 trims come with Ford Co-Pilot360 2.0. This collection of advanced driver-assist features includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian technologies, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping support, reverse brake assist, a driver alert monitor, rear parking sensors, and automatic high beams. A surround-view monitor is included with the XLT and higher trims. The Tremor and above get adaptive cruise control and Ford BlueCruise hands-free driving. For 2024, Ford has changed how it offers BlueCruise. The eligible F-150 trims come with a 90-day trial, but owners can then activate the system as needed via an annual or monthly subscription.
All 2024 F-150 trims get the SYNC 4 infotainment system with a 12-inch touchscreen. This technology supports Connected Navigation, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, and voice command. The XL, STX, and XLT have a six-speaker audio system (only four speakers with the regular cab), while the higher trims have an eight-speaker Bang & Olufsen system (14 speakers with the King Ranch). All trims have access to a Wi-Fi hotspot and FordPass Connect services.
