The 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning is a zero-emissions powerhouse available in four trim packages: XLT, Flash, Lariat, and Platinum. Each comes with dual electric motors and standard four-wheel drive (4WD). The base XLT is equipped with a 98-kWh Standard Range battery, delivering 452 horsepower, 775 lb.-ft. of torque, and a range of up to 240 miles. The other trims are powered by a 131-kWh Extended Range battery, which produces 580 horsepower, 775 lb.-ft. of torque, and achieves up to 320 miles on a full charge (300 miles with the Platinum trim). When it comes to towing, the XLT can pull up to 7,700 pounds, while the Flash and Lariat reach their limit at 10,000 pounds (the Platinum maxes out at 8,500 pounds).
The entry-level XLT is generously equipped with two zones of automatic climate control, cloth upholstery, heated front seats, a power driver’s seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 12-inch digital gauge cluster, push-button start, a functional work surface, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, power-adjustable pedals, and a 60/40-split flip-up rear bench with underseat storage. The exterior is just as impressive, boasting a signature front lighting system, automatic LED headlights, remote keyless entry, a keyless entry keypad, heated side mirrors with turn-signal indicators and LED spotlights, two front tow hooks, illuminated running boards, BoxLink with four cargo tie-down hooks, a 2.4-kW Pro Power Onboard generator, and a power frunk (front trunk) offering 14.1 cubic feet of storage.
The new Flash trim enhances convenience with proximity keyless entry, a power tailgate with an integrated work surface, LED box lighting, wireless phone charging, and a power-adjustable front passenger seat. The Lariat steps up the luxury with leather upholstery, memory settings (for the side mirrors, pedals, driver’s seat, and steering wheel), ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, digital key, a twin-panel moonroof, rain-sensing windshield wipers, power-folding side mirrors with driver’s-side auto-dimming, a power-sliding rear window, ambient interior lighting, and signature rear lighting. At the top of the range, the Platinum adds the more powerful 9.6-kW Pro Power Onboard generator, upgraded leather upholstery, and sophisticated wood interior accents.
The 2024 F-150 Lightning has the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite of active driving aids installed across all trims. It groups pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, post-collision braking, a surround-view camera, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, Pro Trailer Backup Assist, trailer reverse guidance, and automatic high beams. The Flash and Lariat add adaptive cruise control, while the Platinum receives a forward sensing system. Each trim also offers a 90-day free trial of Ford’s BlueCruise 1.2 hands-free driving system (a three-year subscription is available).
The XLT is equipped with the Ford SYNC 4 infotainment system, which includes a 12-inch touchscreen with voice recognition, connected navigation, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a multi-speaker sound system, and Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming. The Flash, Lariat, and Platinum upgrade to the superior SYNC 4A system with a larger 15.5-inch touchscreen and HD Radio. For a next-level audio experience, the Lariat and Platinum get a rich Bang & Olufsen sound system (eight speakers in the Lariat and 14 in the Platinum).
For those looking to bolster their ‘24 F-150 Lightning, Ford offers quite a few nice options. The Max Trailer Tow Package, which is standard in the Platinum, provides additional cooling hardware for the battery and electric motors and boosts each trim’s respective towing capacity (7,700 pounds for the XLT and 10,000 pounds for the Flash and Lariat). While many of the aforementioned features in the higher trims are available as options for the lower ones, the entire ’24 F-150 Lightning range is eligible for a spray-in or drop-in bedliner, a tonneau cover (available in hard folding, soft folding, or retractable versions), a Weather Guard storage toolbox, and an in-vehicle safe by Console Vault.
