Configurations and Powertrain

Ford sells the E-Transit Cargo Van as a single trim with multiple roof heights (low, medium, and high) and body lengths (regular, long, and extended). Its power comes from a single-motor electric system featuring a 68-kWh battery and a one-speed transmission. All E-Transits are rear-wheel drive with a maximum cargo capacity of up to 3,880 pounds (which varies by configuration). Charging the E-Transit from 0% to 100% can take as little as eight hours with a Ford Connected Charging Station. Otherwise, it takes about 12 hours via a conventional 240-volt outlet. Ford estimates that the E-Transit has a full-charge range of 126 miles for the low-roof version, with the medium roof edition offering up to 116 miles and the high-roof E-Transit providing as many as 108 miles.

Features and Options

The E-Transit comes with the essential features to support a work-focused mission. This equipment includes seating for two via dual vinyl-covered front bucket seats, single-zone climate control, remote keyless entry, power side mirrors, automatic headlights, a tilt-and-telescopic steering column, and 16-inch steel wheels with covers.

There’s also an extensive list of options that enable buyers to adapt the E-Transit to specific needs and preferences. Pro Power On Board is among the most substantial upgrades, which adds a power source for electric tools and accessories. It includes proximity keyless entry with push-button start (which can be added separately as well). The Interior Upgrade Package adds vinyl flooring, cloth upholstery, and cruise control. Numerous individual options enhance the E-Transit’s appearance, security, and functionality. These upgrades include privacy glass, running boards, high-intensity discharge (HID) headlights, cargo door variations, cargo-area bulkheads and protective coverings, and 16-inch or 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels.

Safety and Driver Support Systems

The E-Transit comes with advanced technologies for collision mitigation (forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking) and lane departure warning. Options include blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors (sold separately), a surround-view monitor, adaptive cruise control, a backup alarm, and active park assist (a semi-autonomous self-parking system). Also standard are head and side airbags for both front-seat occupants, anti-lock brakes, traction control, stability control, and tire pressure monitoring.

Infotainment and Connectivity

All E-Transits get Ford’s SYNC 4 infotainment system based around a 12-inch touchscreen. It also comes with a four-speaker audio system, three years of Connected Navigation access, voice recognition, Bluetooth, dual USB ports, and Alexa Built-In. SiriusXM satellite radio is included with upgraded versions of the information system.

Another standard feature is Ford Pro Telematics Essentials, which enables remote monitoring of repair codes, odometer information, and maintenance notices. Remote locking and unlocking are also available. The platform allows fleet managers to plan for scheduled maintenance and repair needs to limit vehicle down time for optimal business efficiency. For a nominal monthly fee, E-Transit owners can upgrade to Ford Pro E-Telematics for enhanced remote services, including driver activity monitoring, GPS tracking, service reports, and security alerts. Vehicle range, charge status, departure preconditioning, and other services are included with the subscription.
